Welcome to the "Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation" website.

Our mission is to research and preserve the memory of the incredible lady that will be remembered forever for her kindness and merciful heart,  that saved many lives and comforted many others. She has been recognized by many as a real Mexican heroine of the Texas Revolution.

Although little is known about the life of Francisca Alvarez, we encourage you to  look through these pages and see the information we have gathered about her and  her descendants.

ANGEL OF GOLIAD COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS & PAVERS

To celebrate the historical preservation of the memory of Francisca Alvarez, the Angel of Goliad Descendants are enhancing the Angel statue located in Goliad, Texas by creating a pavilion around the existing statue.

This beautification project is aiming to create a pavilion which will include raising the statue to a more stately height, the addition of a brick surface surrounding the statue which will include engraved bricks and granite pavers, decorative benches and possible landscaping throughout multiple phases of the development.

We have now completed phase one and two of our beautification project. The statue has been elevated and the placement of the benches has been completed. Phase three is underway with the installation of the commemorative bricks and pavers around the statue. We are still allowing descendants and friends of the angel to purchase an engraved brick or granite pavers to be displayed at the site of the statue. The commemorative bricks and pavers can represent your family, loved ones, or in memory of someone special. Upcoming Events and News

Planning has begun for the 2010 Descendants of the Angel of Goliad Family Reunion (3rd Annual). You do not want to miss this family event scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Henrietta Memorial Center in Kingsville, Texas. More information and agenda coming soon for the reunion.

Next AOGDHP meeting for all members will be March 27, 2010 at 1:30 pm in Goliad, Texas.

The historical marker was approved by the Historical Commission of the State of Texas and will be unveiled at the next re-enactment on March 28, 2010 at noon. Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos will be the keynote speaker. We hope to see many descendants at the ceremony in Goliad, TX. We hope ALL descendants of the Angel of Goliad will plan to attend this historic event. Please mark your calendars!!

A PRAYER FOR NUESTRA ANGELITA DE GOLIAD

"Our Heavenly Father we give thee thanks for having blessed Francisca "Panchita" Alvarez and her descendants. We thank you for the many freedoms we enjoy and the legacy that is ours.

You have brought us this far and we still look up to thee for guidance and direction.

Again for those who were spared by Panchita's efforts and their descendants, we are grateful for their contributions to this great state and nation. Only you can make something good out of a tragic event.

As we live "un dia a la vez" help us to recognize your presence in all that we do. May we continue to love one another as you have commanded.
