Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation

Marhaba (Greetings in Arabic) to all my dear Cousins,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Edwina and Arturo Alvarez, Bert and Rosalinda Alvarez for the wonderful reception we received at our February 5th meeting in Kingsville, Texas. We had a most informative and fruitful meeting and the best sandwiches and other goodies provided by the Alvarez Kinfolks. We would also like to thank the First Christian Church and its pastor for the use of their facilities. As of now we hold a certificate of Incorporation for the Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation well on our way to being a non-profit organization. We are also most grateful and appreciative to Mrs. Marie Lopez the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arturo Alvarez from Kingsville for her assistance in helping our organization work on the State franchise  Taxes and CPA work. Her volunteering to help us in this most important job will help our organization move faster in achieving our goals and objectives. Thanks again, Marie! Other activities in the planning stages are: Decorations for the tables under the supervision of Edwina and Art Alvarez, a membership table set up by Eustolio Longoria to collect the 2005-2006 dues, Angel of Goliad T-Shirts (Yellow) to be sold by Humberto Alvarez, Jr. ( Little Bert) The t-shirts will come in several sizes with blue lettering and an Angel with the lettering Angel of Goliad Descendants . They were sold last year and are simply beautiful. We will also be selling the Direct Descendants Badges made by Gloria Ramirez and the buttons by Manuel Munoz. Honorary Badges will also be sold. Many of us bought them last year at the dedication of our Angel of Goliad statue. They are beautiful and have been made with great devotion and care by Gloria Ramirez from Palestine, Texas. So bring your checkbooks. All proceeds are going to defray the cost of our reunion and other expenses. Please check the website for details on the Inn we are blocking for all the Descendants of the Angel of Goliad in Victoria, Texas a 30 minute drive to Goliad. Book your reservations early especially you Californians. A discount has been given to all of us Alvarez. Make sure you tell them you are with our group. WE were also honored to meet more Alvarez cousins from the King Ranch in Kingsville. The Juan and Luis Alvarez family from the Los Laureles branch of the King Ranch entertained us with music and food. These Alvarez are from the Luis Alvarez clan of the Alvarez. They were all very hospitable and we all shared stories of our ancestors. Rebecca Shokrian also met with the author Mr. Raul Garza I can Forgive but cannot Forget. He has written an article on Jose Ramirez El Lobo on our website and another article which will be on our website shortly. Be on the lookout for it. Jose Ramirez was married to Rebeca Alvarez , the daughter of Gerardo and Josefa Alvarez. WE would like to conclude on the note that we have over 26 Alvarez families who have paid for their dinner plates. Please mail your checks for the dinner as soon as possible in order to inform our caterers on how many plates to prepare. Check the website for details. WE the Officers decided that the laying of the wreath for our great ancestor Panchita Alvarez will be done by each selected member of the Alvarez clan. H. R. Wood the singer and his group will be singing the Angel of Goliad song and will be selling this CD at the Reunion. If you have not heard this song, you are in for a treat! Words are in his website: K. R. Wood  Please continue to pray for our dearly beloved Cousin Ernesto Alvarez, Jr. (Titin) from Kingsville recuperating from surgery.  May God continue to bless our Alvarez Clan , our Armed Services men and women, and The USA.

Respectfully submitted, Herlin Pineda, Rudy Garcia and Rebecca Shokrian
