On March 29th 2004 an historical event took place in Goliad, Texas. A life-size statue of Francisca Alvarez was unveiled as part of the 19th Annual Goliad Living History Program.  The bronze statue was sculpted  by Houston-area artist Che Rickman and has been paid with a $16,000 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation and $4,000 from Goliad County.

Many family descendants congregated for the occasion and decided to form the Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation, to continue the research on Francisca Alvarez and to ensure that her memory stays well alive for future generations.
