Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation Minutes from July 11, 2009.

President Gilbert Alvarez called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.  The minutes from March 28, 2009 were read and there was one correction regarding the absent newsletters.  The January and July newsletters were submitted and read by Rudy Ramirez.  The opening prayer was read by Bert Alvarez.  The minutes were unanimously approved. 

Maria Elena Martinez suggested that we send copies of our newsletters to libraries so they can archive the information on the Angel of Goliad.  Maria Elena will present more information to us on that at a later date. 

The membership chairperson Juan Alvarez did not have a membership list with him, but he stated that he is working with another family member to update our list that includes names, addresses, etc.  He also gave us a lot of information that will be included in our next newsletter. 

Diana Alvarez the entertainment chairperson gave her report. 

The treasurer’s report was submitted by Dan Garza and reviewed by President Gilbert Alvarez.

Rey Alvarez the historian was not present. 

The webmaster Gil Alvarez, Jr. gave a presentation on the Angel of Goliad website and how changes/additions are made.  It is a tedious procedure. 

New Business:  A ceremony for the unveiling of the historical marker is being planned for March, 2010 in Goliad with Dr. Lauro F. Cavazos as the keynote speaker and doing the unveiling of said marker. 

The last weekend of this month (July) President Gilbert will be in Goliad to oversee the installation of concrete benches around the statue of the angel.

New business:  AOG Alvarez Reunion in 2010:  the reunion will be held in July 17, 2010 and will be held in Kingsville, TX.  It was voted on unanimously.  It was also  unanimously voted to have the reunion at the Henrietta Memorial Center. 

The next meeting of the AOGDHP will be held in Kingsville, TX on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Quality Inn at 1:00.  The prayer was said by Rudy Ramirez and the meeting was adjourned by President Gilbert Alvarez.
