NEWSLETTER 10/25/04
Hola Primos y Primas, Hope you had many treats and not tricks this Halloween month of October 2004! DO NOT FORGET TO CAST YOUR VOTE ON ELECTION DAY NOVEMBER 2, 2004.We begin this newsletter by asking your prayers for Norma Linda Lopez grandson Trenton age 2 and his parents. Trenton has a blood disorder and has been having tests run on him. Let us pray for his good health. Your prayers are also asked for our beloved Alvarez cousin Ernesto (Titin) Alvarez in Corpus Christi who is undergoing treatment for his leg. Rudy Ramirez and Becky Shokrian went to Goliad, Texas on October 22, 2004 to check on plans for the Alvarez - Angel of Goliad Reunion scheduled for Sunday, April 3, 2005. We have rented a Parish Hall large enough to hold 400 of us Alvarez. Much to their dismay they went by and paid a visit to our great ancestor the Angel of Goliad Statue and found tall grass and weeds all around her. What a pitiful sight! Something will have to be done about this problem. We will be having our November meeting in Spring, Texas on November 6th and will bring this problem to the officers. It is a shame to have her hidden behind all that tall grass. We are also happy to announce another Alvarez descendent approaching wedding set up for March 12, 2005: Congrats are in order to Michael Ramirez and Dina Leiva both from San Antonio, Texas. Michael is the son of Louis and Deanna Ramirez also from San Antonio. And we wish good wishes and a blessed marriage to Mr. and Mrs. Tim Ferrer of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Ferrer is the daughter of Pearl Alvarez Weber. They were married on October 9, 2004 in Houston, Texas. And the sounds of little feet are awaiting grandpa-soon-to-be Arnold Alvarez and grandma-soon-to-be Christina Alvarez any day now!!!! Many Alvarez cousins are eagerly awaiting Jesse Salas' arrival from Kuwait the son of Gemma Alvarez Ibrahim of Kuwait. Jesse is presently working in Kuwait. Edna Nora Alvarez Rothwell of California will be traveling with her husband Harry to Belize. A safe journey, Nora and Harry!!!!! Rudy Ramirez also reports that during the 27th Annual County Wood Fair in Nacogdoches, Texas his grandson A.J. Huffman's market hog won grand champion. He was in competition with 27 other contestants. His market lamb also won grand champion. He competed with 15 other contestants. Nine school districts were competing. Also, his Granddaughter Brandi Smith won Reserve grand champion for the market hog competition. Way to go Alvarez descendants!! Check our angel of Goliad website for pictures. We will need a lot of help for Family Reunion especially the decorating committee. We need volunteers. Please contact one of the officers and let us know what you can do to help or we will just delegate a job. We need to find 300 or 400 Alvarez out there to come join us. Be on the lookout for more details. Names and current addresses are what we need now. Please send yours in to Eustolio Longoria ejaql5@cox-internet.com . Won't it be grand to meet Alvarez relatives you have never seen in your life and did not even know they existed? We must do this for children and grandchildren so that they may know from whence they came from!! Respectfully submitted, Rudy Garcia and Herlin Pineda
