NEWSLETTER 11/25/04
Greetings Primos y Primas,
This month of Thanksgiving has really gone fast! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. We know that we are so lucky to live in such a great country as ours and have so much to be grateful for! We begin our newsletter with the news that at our November 6th meeting in Spring, Texas went quite well. Even though we had 4 of our members absent we did accomplish much. The final papers have been drawn up for our status as a non-profit organization. This is another hurdle of which we have accomplished. Plans are now set for our Angel of Goliad Alvarez Family Reunion to be held in Goliad, Texas on April 3,2005. We have a place and invitations have been sent. WE need to start finding out how many are planning on coming and sending in their money to reserve a plate for our lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Eustolio Longoria mailed out the invitations. Check out our website for more details. If you have not received yours, it is only because we have a wrong address but you can still mail the form from our website along with your money for the meal. Hopefully, the rest of the Alvarez will hear about our family reunion by word of mouth and attend. After a most informative meeting, we were treated to the best luncheon we have ever had thus far: Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Munoz had the biggest feast of Mexican food and desserts at their beautiful home in Spring, Texas. Not only did we meet the rest of their beautiful family but were entertained by an array of the most exotic birds who kept chirping away while we ate!! Again a big thanks to Belinda and Manuel and their children. Other news have surfaced: Miss Teri Lopez, daughter of Norma Linda and Pete Lopez who is going to school up north brought home a win in Canada in ladies wrestling. Please check our website under "Our Stories" section for her picture and details. Way to go Alvarez!! and congrats are in order for the Alvarez-O'Hanlon family. Another generation of Alvarez has been born on November 7th at 10:57pm: Daniel Timothy O' Hanlon and any day now Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Ramirez will be expecting their newborn daughter......Other news Ernesto (Titin- Tiny) Alvarez is still recuperating from his ordeal and our prayers are with him. Jesse Salas came from Kuwait for a visit with his brother Michael and family. He is Gemma Ibrahim's son who is the grandson of Viola Alvarez Pineda. Gemma and her sister Carolina Vasquez spent their vacation in Spain and had a great time... and have you checked our website for the Gilbert Alvarez from Dallas Texas clan of the most handsome men who are all involved in sports? Congrats to Gilbert and his two sons! and last but not least our treasurer Rebecca Shokrian drove 15 hours to see her son PFC Joseph Shokrian graduate from Basic Training at FT. BENNING, GA. Even though it was a rainy day in Georgia every last parent present was so proud of their son's accomplishment. Many of the soldiers will now be going to their advance training or straight to Iraq. Please support and pray for our soldiers. Rebecca and her son PFC. Joseph Shokrian were able to entertain a few of the soldiers who could not be with their families by letting them join them at their Thanksgiving Luncheon at Houlihan's Restaurant at the Wyndham Hotel. Hope none of us gained any weight during our Thanksgiving Holidays Until next month when our meeting will be held in Kingsville, Texas.....
Respectfully submitted, Herlin Pineda and Rudy Garcia
