Angel of Goliad Descendants Historical Preservation

Greetings and Salutations Alvarez Descendants,

Our may meeting of the AOGDHP was held on Saturday May 15, 2004 in San Antonio, Texas at the Pear Inn Tree thanks to the most grateful hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Alvarez of San Antonio. All officers with the exception of two  were present. Much was accomplished at this meeting. The main emphasis was that each and every Alvarez needs to contribute to our organization not only joining the membership drive but in sending in their stories, events, and any other pertinent information to our organization. Our webmaster stated he can only publish what is sent to him. He suggested we keep our website simple, to the point free of a lot of graphics and music etc. Current information is essential to the growth  of our organization. . This can be done by sending in your current phone nos. and addresses. In order for our organization to flourish we need to send in our membership dues as soon as possible. Please refer to the Membership section in our website for further details. Each of the officers contributed their information to the meeting, discussions followed. Some of the points made were:

- That we get started on the status as a non-profit organization.

- That we think about a design for an Angel of Goliad Patch.

- Who will present the laying of the wreath at the Statue of the Angel of Goliad for next year.

-  Start planning for the Alvarez Reunion next year in Goliad on March 2005.

Committees will have to be set up to equally share in this endeavor. No one or two people can handle this great event alone. We will need your help and support. Fundraisers were brought up to defray costs of starting our organization and this REUNION. Perhaps one can be held in the different areas we live in. WE NEED YOUR INPUT in this matter. It was decided to have this REUNION  on the Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at either the Goliad Convention Center or a church parish hall. Food could be catered in!. Before the meeting was adjourned, we agreed to have another officers meeting on August 14th and November 6th 2004 in San Antonio, Texas.
